I have plenty to say,

I have plenty to say, but not enough time to type it right now. I'm planning big changes for this site very shortly, but house and job and side projects have been pulling me away. I just declined playing with my Saturday soccer team for the first time in four years because my weekends are becoming more and more precious. Had a really tough week last week emotionally and physically; the long weekend was extremely helpful. I wish I still had a vacation bank filled with four glorious weeks of paid time off, but sleeping in my own bed at night is better in the long run, even if it is defective.

Just a quick rundown of the stuff that happened last week:

Picked up our new mattress, drove it home (thanks George), set up bed to accomodate the new queensize, and realized that the mattress had a defect that made one side of the bed extremely uncomfortable. This was the last thing in a long string of misfortune last week, and really got me down. Of course, I feel obligated to give Susan the good side of the bed; my back and right shoulder, was already sore before this fiasco. Luckily, the manufacturer's rep is going to replace the mattress sight unseen.

Bubby is having some problems since her sciatica episode. Not sure what the outcome will be. She's heading to Elmira to stay with my Aunt/Uncle/cousins for a while. Hopefully the young blood around her will improve her recovery.

My company passed around a memo on Friday stating that they will be switching health insurance providers. The new provider, United HealthCare, doesn't have nearly the network of doctors that our current carrier, Blue Cross Blue Shield, does. Specifically, Susan's OB is not in network. This was not welcome news. It's bad enough I had to take a pay cut to get a job that didn't require travel, now I end up effectively taking another since we are going to have to pay much more out of pocket to remain with our present course of care. I have subsequently discovered that they will transition care and treat Susan's doc as an in network doctor. We won't be responsible for a deductible, but we will still have to pay the difference between UHC's "usual and customary" payments, and the amount the doctor's office charges if we were just paying cash. Time to play a little hardball with my employer methinks.

My soccer team lost on Tuesday night, the 26th, before all this happened. We didn't have any subs, the other team had seven on the bench. I got fouled really hard, didn't even get the call, and my ankle and foot are still hurting pretty badly. Team really fell apart at the end of the game mostly due to exhaustion/frustration. I really think we would have won if we had even two subs. But, things come up, guys were on vacation, new babies at home, etc. I guess I understand. But it doesn't make losing any easier.

I worked my ass off the first couple days of the week (nearly made myself late for my soccer game Tuesday night) to finish an app to facilitate registration for the continuing education department. They were calling incessantly until it was finished to find out when it would be done. Once we told them it was ready, it took them more than a day to link to it, and they never asked for any of the registration information. I had to remind them yesterday that it was even out there, and that people had registered.

There's more I'm sure, but I don't feel like dredging any more stuff up, and you've probably gotten the picture by now. Luckily, we had a rather uneventful weekend. We went to a party, set up our new hammock, and I researched continuity of care laws. I think I had several moments of enlightenment restraining myself from choking unhelpful insurance company reps through the phone. And, there's always a gentle reminder that there are more important things, that regardless of my problems, I have it pretty good, and I shouldn't really be complaining regardless of how crappy my week might have been. Without further ado...our latest belly photo...2 inches in one month :)
