Stir Crazy

We spent the Thanksgiving weekend in Chicago since we're not really supposed to travel any more. In fact, one of Susan's friends told us over the weekend of someone she knew that was due Jan 7 and delivered last week! We're getting ancy, but not that ancy. It was the first Thanksgiving in 10 years that neither of us have traveled for; watching the planes stacked up in the landing pattern into O'Hare made me very thankful to have stayed home despite missing out on seeing family and friends back east. I can't imagine a less enjoyable flight than one on the busiest travel day of the year with an eight and a half month pregnant wife. Susan probably wouldn't like it much either.

Speaking of tormenting pregnant women. I've come up with some sure fire ways to keep things interesting. I haven't tried them all, but we've still got a few weeks ;)

1. Close the door to the bathroom at night. When she inevitably gets up in a half waking stupor to go to the bathroom, she will run into the door, belly first. Oops. I've been much better about this, but still forget every now and then (including last night)

2. Unscrew the light bulbs in the refrigerator. This happened inadvertently to us when the bulb went out yesterday. However, Susan has a remarkably good memory for the layout of the fridge. Probably from repeated retrievals of apple sauce while in a half waking stupor.

3. While she is sleeping, slip into the bedroom very quietly and stand in silent awe of her. Her protective instinct will shortly alert her to a presence in the room, and she'll recognize you as a kidnapper or robber, rather than her husband. Warning, she will be up for a while after this, so be prepared to spend a good while calming her down with neck/foot/back rub.

4. Suggest countless unacceptable names after you've pretty much decided on your top choices: Keyshawn, Britney, Madonna, Prince Charles, and so on.

5. Discuss the latest snowfall amounts at your favorite mountains, and stare longingly into space as you think out loud about how long it will be until you can go skiing again (http://travel.yahoo.com/p-ski-525261-ski_resorts-i).
